ABERGWILI ANGLING CLUB

Salmon and sewin fishing in West Wales on the Towy, Cothi & Gwili.

March 31, 2019

2019

The season is upon us again, the only changes with our waters is that rhiwlas and trefynys haven't been retained subject to the outcome of the NRW consultation. Fishing on fosters is as it was, only on odd days and all salmon to be released as well as all Sewin over 5lb. Thank you

**WE have secured the fishing at WENNALT Capel Dewi Rd, its just above the Pipe Pool.**

NRWs proposals have not gone through this season, but we as a club ask that all fish over 5lb be returned.

***THIS SEASON WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO LEASE THE FISHING AT DAY-Y-ALLT ***

Catch report and carnival

A big thank you first of all to everyone who has signed the petition below so far. Please keep sharing to support this cause.

After a quiet start to the year this last week has been encouraging with numerous sewin caught, most notable a 9 ½ pounder taken on the twins. A few salmon have also been caught with another cracking fish coming out of the Cothi weighing in at 14lb, caught by Leigh (picture alongside).

In other news, Abergwili carnival is this coming Saturday (9th). There will be a casting tutorial as well as competition for children, potentially a fly-tying demonstration and a raffle with prizes consisting of a bottle of choice and two children’s fishing rods. Any help would be greatly appreciated and we would encourage you to come down for a couple of hours to support not only the angling club, but also the village.

Thank you

Petition to postpone the restrictions on fishing in Welsh rivers.

Please click the link below to sign the petition calling on the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to ensure an immediate postponement of the 10-year catch & release proposal for all salmon on Welsh rivers, whilst a full and proper impact assessment is carried out into the effects on local business and tourist economy.

Thank you

New year, new water

With just over a month left until the fishing season starts, I’m sure many of you have heard the exciting news we have regarding club waters. We have managed to secure Dan yr Allt in Whitemill as well as retain an old favourite in Fosters in Abergwili. This means all previous water from last year has been retained as well as added upon with the Dan yr Allt beat. All maps are available on our club website under the club maps section.

Any new members looking to join our club please contact Alex Young for an application form on 07766883045 or alternatively 01267222379.

For all existing members please contact Alex Young on 07766883045 or visit the West Wales Tackle shop on king street in Carmarthen, the link to their website is under friends on our website.

So dust off your rods, get your tackle from up the attic and we hope to see you on the river come April.

Thank you, Mike.
